PRIVACY POLICY
Last updated: 27 October 2026
1. Summary
Burgerman collects as little as possible. There are no ads, no analytics and no tracking SDKs in the game. We handle personal information in line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
2. What we collect
- When you buy: your email address, the Paystack payment reference, the amount paid, the date, and the unlock code we issue. You enter your payment details on Paystack's checkout; we never see your card number.
- When you unlock the game: the code you type, which the game sends to our server to check it is valid. We count how many times a code is used to spot abuse.
- When you post a top score: the name you type and your time. We also keep a one-way hash of your IP address (not the address itself) to limit spam and cheating.
- When the game checks for updates: it asks our server for the latest version number. Like any web host, our hosting provider may keep standard technical logs (such as IP address and request time) for security.
- On your phone: the game saves your unlock status and settings on your device only.
3. Why we use it
To deliver your purchase and unlock code, recover lost codes, prevent fraud and abuse, show the Top Scores table, tell you about updates, and answer support requests. We do not send marketing emails and we do not sell your information.
4. Who we share it with
- Paystack processes your payment and sends your receipt.
- Cloudflare hosts the website, the game's servers and the database.
- GitHub hosts the APK downloads and may see your IP address when you download.
These providers may process information outside South Africa. We share information with authorities only if the law requires it.
5. How long we keep it
Purchase records are kept for as long as your unlock needs to work and for tax and dispute purposes. Top scores stay on the table until removed. You can ask us to delete or correct your information, but deleting a purchase record means we can no longer verify your unlock code.
6. Security
Traffic to our site and game servers is encrypted (HTTPS) and access to the database is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Children
Purchases should be made by an adult or with a parent's or guardian's consent. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, apart from a name they choose to type for the Top Scores table, which should not be their real full name.
8. Your rights
Under POPIA you may ask to see, correct or delete your personal information, or object to how it is used. Email us and we will respond within a reasonable time. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa (inforegulator.org.za).
9. Changes
We may update this policy and will change the date above when we do.
